Last year, the big news in the Georgia General Assembly was child support. This year’s issue in the Georgia legislature is CUSTODY.

The Shared Custody bill (HB 369) introduced on February 10, 2007, would allow:

  • Direct appeals for divorce and custody cases
  • Binding arbitration in custody cases
  • The elimination of the rights of 14 year old children to choose which parent to live with
  • The awarding of attorneys fees in custody cases

I will provide a more detailed analysis of HB 369 in the next few days, along with a description of other bills related to divorce and family law now pending in the legislature.
